I finished The Rose Society a while ago, but I am now able to put what I feel into words. I think… I never know how to review Marie Lu in cohrenet and in sentences, because inside my head this is how I am, “Ohmygoodnesswhateven?Whyjustwhy?Waitwhyarenttheremorepages?IthinkIammissingpages…” I will say Marie Lu knows how to punch me in my gut and leaving me breathless.
Before I go into what I loved about the book, lets talk about our new characters who have joined our favorite (or at least my favorite) anti hero Adelina, although lets face it she is the reason why we all returned to the series when Rose Society came out. Magiano is charming, witty, sarcastic and his love for Adelina makes my heart flutter. The way he treats her especially during one part of the book , which I won’t go into details but it was official during that part I ship the relationship. I hope Lu goes more into depth with Magiano in the next book, because I feel like he has room to grow more and I want to know more about him.
Then we have Sergio, who is mentioned in the Young Elites. I was so happy to see that Marie added him to the story and I also hope that he grows more as a character in the next book, since we really did not get a lot of time with him.
Overall I enjoyed this book, and when Marie Lu said it was going to be darker, she stuck to her word. I think this was the darkest book I have read, well of course not many books have the POV of the villian. I still have this hope that Adelina, my White Wolf can turn around and become good. Although I know that is not going to happen after being betrayed so many times by those she has trusted. The pace of this book was steady some moments were heart pounding, and others were more pleasant. I cannot wait for the next installment of the series.
If you have not read this book yet, get on it! Of course check out other works by Marie Lu, I promise you that you will not be disappointed.
